Will the real Kara Sloan please stand up?!

Kara Sloan is back!!! And not just back…but back with a vengeance!  I had a friend of mine do a conversion on her to make her look more like the Artwork, which in my highly opinionated but honest opinion is how she should have been sculpted in the first place…with her gun down in the firing position.  Thank you Erik V. for the awesome conversion!!!!

I got in a game with her last Thursday night down at Matrix Games against Scotty who had a very speedy Amon Ad-Raza list.  Man...all that adrenaline pumping goodness I get from playing her came back in a rush.  I had the model advantage this time around, amazingly enough since Scotty played pretty ‘Jack heavy list. But I still felt the overwhelming pressure of how to overcome the speed in his list.

The first round was everyone moving forward to getting into position with little actual action happening.  Scotty ran all his forces forward which put them in prime range for the Kara’s Feat on the second turn.  The poor Knights Errant just got riddled with bullets something bad.  The unit basically disappeared in a haze of bullets.  Kara Sloan missed a shot due to being out of range and then did a whole bunch of lack luster damage to one of Scotty’s heavies.  The return round saw all but two of my Precursors wiped off the table and I lost a few ATGM as well.  My Hunter got hurt pretty bad and basically became a I-hope-I-hit-something ranged Jack.

The third turn was the break turn for me.  The way I look at it with Kara if I can’t win it by the end of turn 3, then I am dead…and when the pressure was on, Kara did not disappoint.  In the previous turns I had put a random smattering of damage into Scotty’s Castigator but not enough to really remove it from the board or cripple it in any form.  Ad-Raza was hiding behind the Castigator well within his charge range…so I had to kill him this turn or I was toast.  I popped a combined ranged shot Ad-Raza with the ATGM which the Vigilant opted to eat.   Then I activated Kara Sloan…

One shot into the Castigator, Hit, Boosted the damage and rolled Pow 12 + 4D6 for a 6,6,6,5 . . . for 35 total points of Damage.  I can just imagine as the 50cal Magically-enchanced Sabol Round just ripped that Castigator into pieces and then Ad-Raza’s eyes got as big as saucers as all of a sudden he was starting down the barrel of a Sniper Rifle with a very calm and composed Kara Sloan ready to pull the trigger.

Tick, tick, tick…time slows down

Kara slowly pulls the trigger on her sniper rifle

BOOM!!!!!!

Roll to hit, boosted just to make sure.  Hit!

Roll for Damage, boosted, of course

The dice hit down on the table…6,6,6,4

34 points of damage

Ad-Raza’s head evaporates into a cloud of red mist.

The retort of the rifle is heard across the battlefield…

Holy Shitballs!! Both Scotty and I are looking at each other across the table in stunned disbelief at the damage rolls that just happened.

SHE’S BACK BABY!!!!!!

P.S. I passed my Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam...now I can get back to painting...starting March 1st =)  HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Pics to follow soon!! Man I love Kara Sloan!
